今年10月、小名浜本町通りを舞台に芸術祭が開かれる。その名も「小名浜本町通り芸術祭2013」。市民が日常の町にはみ出し、芸術を通して町と向き合い、これからの町の姿を探ろうという芸術祭だ。小名浜の新しい地産クリエイティブの先駆けとなるか。とても楽しみなプロジェクトが産声を上げた。
小名浜本町通り芸術祭は、tetoteonahamaも編集部を構えるオルタナティブスペースUDOK.のメンバーが中心となって企画。小名浜本町通りのシャッター街となってしまったエリアや、震災による建物の解体で空き地になってしまった場所、店舗などに作品を展示し、町中をアート作品で埋め尽くそうというものだ。
特徴的なのが、市民参加型の芸術祭であること。作品は市民が自ら制作することを目標に掲げている。そのために、４月から毎月２回程度、作品をつくるためのワークショップを開催する予定で、市民が自ら、スケッチ、写真、インスタレーションなどを制作していくことになる。作品は10月の芸術祭で展示される予定だ。
ワークショップには、早朝の小名浜の風景を写真で切り取る「あさんぷぉ」、おなじみの工場夜景撮影バスツアー「SNOOF」などのほか、「かつおトーク」と題されたトークイベントや、音楽イベント、いわき踊りなどへの参加も予定されている。さまざまなイベントを通して自らの創造性を養い、町と向き合うのがポイントだ。
芸術祭が非日常の「祭祀的」な舞台だとすれば、こちらのワークショップが日常というべきか。日常の目線がどのように芸術に昇華していくのか。そこで、どのような小名浜の姿が浮かび上がってくるのか。日々の暮らしや社会問題を考えるような作品も生まれるかもしれない。
いずれにしても、10月の芸術祭がどのような規模になるかはまだ未定。これから日常的な制作を行いながら、商店街の店舗などと協同で展示を企画していくことになる。まだ産声を上げたばかりの芸術祭だが、今度どのように動いていくのか。市民の創作を標榜するだけに、とてもわくわくするプロジェクトになりそうだ。
なお、tetoteonahamaでは、小名浜本町通り芸術祭の「特設ページ」を開設し、イベント情報、レビュー、関連インタビューなどを掲載していく予定だ。今後の動きに、ぜひ注目して頂きたい。
