被災し、取り壊しの決まった建物を弔おうと、たんようすけ、ナカジマシゲタカの２人が制作にあたっていたオクリエが８月15日完成し、ビルの持ち主である鯨岡さん家族へと送られた。この日をもって幕を閉じたオクリエは、第二幕「アシタエ」となり、長期的なプロジェクトへと入っていくこととなる。

被災し、取り壊しの決まったビルに壁画を描くことで、その建物に流れた歴史や時間を共有し、建物を弔おうというアートプロジェクト「オクリエ」。東京の建築設計事務所に勤務する傍らライブペインターとして活動するナカジマシゲタカ、小名浜を拠点にドローイングアートを制作しているたんようすけの２人が中心となり、制作が進められてきた。
７月中に壁画の大部分は完成していたが、完成した絵をふさわしい時期に鯨岡さん家族へと「送る」ため、お盆休みの時間をそれぞれ調整し、完成のためのツメの作業が行われた。今回は、かまぼこ職人でVJの高木市之助も参加。鯨岡ビルの脇にある倉庫の壁に、カツオをモチーフにした作品「we will comeback!!」を描き残すなど、壁画はよりパワーアップしている。
ナカジマが今回ライティングした「小名浜カラ！」という言葉も、とりわけ力を放っている。オクリエ本体の壁画は、ナカジマの描いた松林とたんの描いた線画が主体だが、こちらは文字通り言葉の持つ力を前面に押し出す形となっている。グラフィティライターとしても活動していたナカジマの幅広い表現力の成せる業。「小名浜から」なにかが始まり、広がっていくことを祈願した言葉だ。
そして、より力強さを増したオクリエ。たんが入念に描き足したラインが、深みを感じさせる色彩を生み出している。松林と光の線が複雑に絡み、命のきらめきがはじけるように描かれる。太陽、風、光、波、緑、大地、幹・・・。そんなキーワードが次々に飛び出してくるような、温かな作品がここに完成した。そして8月15日、完成したオクリエは、現場まで来てくれた鯨岡さん家族に送られた。
作品としてのオクリエは、今回鯨岡さんへと送られたが、小名浜には依然として被災した建物がまだまだ残っている。弔われることもなく、ただひたすら撤去されるのを待つだけの建物が。「オクリエは送られたけれど、これで終わりにしてはいけない。これからは、小名浜にしっかりと残るものを作っていきたい」とナカジマは語る。まず、「ひとつ」送ることができた２人に、「もうひとつ」という思いが生まれるのも、自然のことだ。
そして、ナカジマとたん２人のアイデアにより、オクリエは「アシタエ」となり、今後は、作品としてのオクリエではなく、復興のための一連のアクションとして行われることになった。被災した建物に絵を描くだけでなく、建築設計の仕事に携わるナカジマとたんだからこそできる広範なアクションを目指すという。２人の純度をより高めた作品やプロジェクトが、今後を小名浜をにぎわせてくれるかもしれない。
鯨岡肉店ビルをはじめ、小名浜港そばの被災住宅は今年12月中に撤去される予定とのこと。それ以降は、「被災した建物に絵を描く」というコンセプト自体が成立しなくなる。これだけの作品が描かれたビルが壊されてしまうのはあまりにも惜しいが、その「惜しさ」を超えたところに「アシタエ」があるのかもしれない。文字通り、明日へとつながるアクション。オクリエを送り終えた２人の挑戦は、まだ始まったばかりだ。

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear."
